WA Showcase 2025 Launches an Impact-Driven Program for the Performing Arts
Western Australia’s biggest performing arts market and conference, WA Showcase, returns from Tuesday 22 to Friday 25 July at the Subiaco Arts Centre, with an impact-driven program designed to ignite creativity, build meaningful connections, and amplify the State’s most exciting talent.
Hosted and delivered by CircuitWest, WA Showcase brings together presenters, producers, artists, and arts workers from across the State. Over four days, delegates will engage in important conversations, explore new perspectives, and gain practical tools to strengthen their work.
This year’s program opens with Culturally Courageous: the story of creating a Noongar language production of a Shakespearean play. A panel of First Nations artists and industry experts share the creative process of the first Shakespearean work to be performed entirely in one Indigenous language of Australia.
The program also features dynamic sessions led by Tim Long, Managing Director of Hawkridge Entertainment Services, who will guide delegates through practical frameworks for measuring and communicating the economic contribution of performing arts venues. Blending insight with hands-on learning, his sessions equip practitioners to communicate their value to decision makers with confidence.
Laura Milke Garner brings over 20 years of experience across festivals, radio, and theatre, from the Sydney Opera House to the Edinburgh Fringe. Her bespoke marketing workshops will deliver actionable strategies for growing audiences and developing compelling, results-driven campaigns within the arts.
In addition to these sessions, delegates will receive key updates on the State Government’s Creative Industries Funding, insights into the evolving performing arts landscape, and the latest developments in CircuitWest’s Technical Initiative, which is transforming live production support across Western Australia.
Live pitch sessions continue to be a highlight of WA Showcase, providing a platform for some of the State’s most esteemed companies to present new, tour-ready work to venue managers, presenters, and Local Government representatives from both metropolitan and regional areas. This year’s lineup features exciting new work from Performing Lines WA, Marrugeku, The Last Great Hunt, Barking Gecko Arts, Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, and others. WA Showcase offers a front-row seat to the next wave of groundbreaking performances emerging from Western Australia.
Philippa Maughan, Executive Director of CircuitWest, says the event’s value is reflected in its strong legacy and loyal community of attendees, “For nearly a decade, WA Showcase has been a driving force for connection, creativity, and collaboration within the performing arts sector. Delegates return year after year because it delivers meaningful outcomes – new partnerships, stronger touring networks, and invaluable opportunities to learn, share, and grow.”
“This year’s program leads the way in being impact-driven. It emphasises the innovative and diverse work emerging from Western Australia’s performing arts sector. We are excited to welcome both new and familiar faces in 2025, and I encourage everyone in the sector to register and join these vital conversations.”
