The WA Dance Sector Consultation //In Motion// (2024) indicated that our regional dance community need better support, and importantly, that the Perth metro community fully recognise that this is a key issue that our sector faces as a whole and was raised by the majority of respondents regardless of their location.
The idea is to pilot a Regional Dance Artist Online Hub – a regular meeting place for dance people. These will be facilitated online, hosted by Ausdance WA and aim to provide regional dance artists the space to connect, network and share their practice, and for Ausdance to stay informed about the changing needs in these communities. Ausdance will consider arranging guest speakers, or connecting with other industry representatives as required to support interest. The information gathered will also help to inform a mapping project of dance activity across professional/independent practitioners, school and studio teachers, recreational activity, youth programs, classes for older people, across all styles/genres, etc. and serve as powerful data on who/where/how much dance is happening in the state.
This Get Together session will help us to put feelers out, connect with who might be interested, and allow us to expand our networks and inform the approach.
