Guy Boyce, Artistic Director and CEO of Mandurah Performing Arts Centre has won the inaugural Western Australian People’s Choice Pinnacle Award.
“Guy is a true leader in performing arts,” said CircuitWest Executive Director, Ryan Taaffe.
“Such a win will be no surprise to those in across the industry in Western Australia.”
“Guy has developed a reputation for transforming his venue from a stage for hire to a hub of creativity for the entire region and beyond,” Taaffe said.
“His work across the spectrum of performing arts from producing to presenting is an important part of the fabric of the Peel region. The focus on youth and the development of programs for young people facing challenges in a region with high disadvantage and unemployment is a big contributor to the well-being of the entire community
The winner of the Pinnacle is voted for by industry peers based on providing excellence in all its forms and awarded by CircuitWest. CircuitWest represents venues, producers, artists, and stakeholders in performing arts Western Australia wide from Broome to Esperance to Kalgoorlie and everything in between including Perth.
Boyce, a former professional performer, venue manager and festival director came to Australia from New Zealand to manage MANPAC in 2010.
Since then it has won the Drover award for being the best venue in Australia.
ManPAC programs music, theatre, circus, physical theatre, dance, festivals, film, visual arts, workshops, outreach, community engagement, youth and children’s events.
