Company Bio
Founded in 1981 in Fremantle, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is one of the longest running theatre companies in Western Australia and is Australia's champion of puppetry and a leader in puppetry internationally. We are dedicated to the development and creation of the art form. Through puppetry we share stories that celebrate what it is to be human; connecting audiences across generations. We create puppetry works of a world-class standard, cultivate a strong and loyal audience base in our local community and tour extensively and consistently around Australia, and internationally through Asia, Europe and North America.
The company's annual program reaches more than 200,000 audience members and participants. At the 2022 Performing Arts WA Awards the company won: BEST MAINSTAGE PRODUCTION (Beanstalk) and OUTSTANDING NEW WORK (The One Who Planted Trees). In 2024, the company resumes national touring, after the pandemic hiatus, with the acclaimed production of The One Who Planted Trees.
Over the course of our 40+ year history we have entertained and enriched the lives of many, we have created over 80 new Australian works and performed to over 2.2 million people.
