Because We’re Blak

Goolarri Media Enterprises

It’s her car, her rules!!

Because We’re Blak is a lively dramedy following single parent Fran as she ferries her teenagers and various family members around town in her spotless Troopy.

Fran is angry. Post-Voice referendum she is even angrier, but to the bemusement of her family she’s also trying to organise her biggest party yet and she won’t say why.

Because We’re Blak tackles issues of racism, prejudicial policing, and generational divide through a contemporary lens, leavened with humour and pathos.

Company Bio

Goolarri Media is a wholly First Nations-owned media and creative arts organization in Broome, WA. Goolarri champions First Nations voices through radio (99.7FM), TV, film, theatre and events. Goolarri bridges traditional and contemporary storytelling, ensuring First Nations perspectives remain visible locally and globally. Goolarri strengthens cultural identity whilst generating economic opportunities in the creative industries.
