Memory of Rain / The Tipping Point

The Tipping Point Project

Memory of Rain is a soaring lyric film with evocative digital animation that reaches into tunnels of age-old memory and visions our future in a timely tale of a dying creature from the wild, arriving in a community that has run out of water. The narrative follows the journey of a young person leading out to heal the Wounded Wild, following the call of the ancient spirit of country to the source of living water.

Touring residency artists, writer-director Margot Edwards and visual designer Sandy McKendrick, led a team of WA creatives to create this contemporary story of hope in a drying climate – it speaks from wisdom across global cultures to the future for all who inhabit the earth.

Company Bio

Two storytellers Margot Edwards (improvised movement-wordplay) and Sandy McKendrick (puppetry-shadow imagery) share their evocative visual poem-song, Memory of Rain, and its lead character, the Wounded Wild, an iconic vulnerable festival puppet as entry points for inter-generational connection. Bringing versatile experience to engaging communities in festivals, events and residencies, through holding space for conversations, or collaborative improvisational workshop process, they respond to each community's unique regional stories of water and climate consciousness. Together with local musicians, artists and community members, they also offer options for performances and/or installations to unlock fear and use the power of connection through creativity to move ideas forward in dynamic, engaging story creation.
